OBJECTIVES

  1. The CEFI Library provides an organized and readily accessible collection of print and non-print information materials and equipment to meet the increasing instructional and individual needs of students and staff.
  2. To support institutional research of teachers and students that relates to the present and future issues in education such as:
    • to gather, provide and organize various relevant and updated resources such as print and non-print, book and non-book instructional materials that support the different program-offerings of the school with emphasis on the para-medical courses.
    • to provide global access to various information via the internet and other information technology services to its clients.
    • to provide library equipment’s, furnishings and collections adequate for the fulfillment of the various educational programs of the institution.
    • to uphold the mission and vision statements of the school and be instrumental in the ultimate realization of its goals.

Guidelines for Borrowing/Returning/Renewal of Library Materials

  1. Transactions for borrowing, returning and renewal of books must be done by online appointment. Strictly NO APPOINTMENT, NO ENTRY.
  2. There are two (2) types of appointments:
    Online Appointment
    – It means accessing the materials by scanning certain topics/chapters to continuously provide information. This is mostly done with the client outside Lucena City Area and if the community quarantine arises.
    In Campus Appointment
    – It means that the transaction needs physical material. Upon the conversation online, all the needs of the client will be prepared by the Librarian/Library staff beforehand.
    – This is mostly done with the client whose residence is near the location.
    – Only persons between 21-59 years old may borrow and return the library materials/books. Those who are under age may submit authorization letter with their library card to his/her representative.

  4. The E-LIBRARY CARD is required for borrowing, returning, and renewing library materials.
  5. All circulated materials that can be borrowed/renewed twice (2) as per instruction by the Librarian/Library Staff.
  6. Circulation and Reserved books consist of 10 years recent copyright. This is usually textbooks from local and professional books.
  7. Circulation books may be borrowed only for five (5) days. Borrowing of reserved books will depend upon the online conversation between the client and the staff.
  8. Reserved books may be borrowed only for three (3) days. Borrowing of reserved books will depend upon the online conversation between the client and the staff.
  9. Theses can be accessed only by setting an appointment. Accommodation for visitors/researchers from other schools/institutions are temporarily lifted for health and safety reason.
  10. E-book materials are free for online browsing with consent from the Library.

    All transactions in the Library are distributed through email accounts.
  2. Scan/Photocopy document services
    Guidelines and limitations in distributing Scanned and Photocopied sources from the materials/books in the Library:
    • All transactions in scanning/photocopying have watermark and properly cited for the information of the sources.
    • This special service is for those client/students who are not in the vicinity of Lucena City.

DR. EMETERIO CALAYAN JR. LIBRARY

Brief History

The goal of the Dr. Emeterio Calayan Jr. Library named after one of the school’s founders; Dr. Emeterio Calayan Jr. is to provide access to information resources to the numbers of academic community for their intellectual growth, lifelong learning and enlightenment. It endeavors to keep abreast with the ever-changing demand of quality education, technological advances and more importantly the growing number of enrollees.

From a small wooden room in 1973, today, the Dr. Emeterio Calayan Jr. Library is located at the 4th floor of the Katatagan Building in order to house the increasing number of library collection and keeps pace with the development of technology. The new library facilitates the retrieval of materials and has addressed CEFI’s burgeoning student population.

The Dr. Emeterio Calayan Jr. Library is a learning environment for the tertiary department that upholds the school’s mission to develop holistic, self-fulfilling, and productive citizens, actively engaged in national and international development via its library services by providing up-to-date information resources, instruction and technological services that promotes and enriches intellectual and personal growth to produce globally competitive professionals.
