The First Gerry Roxas Leadership Award
Gaining a medal is one thing, but obtaining a prestigious award shall be written in pages. It is like achieving an honor, but with a twist; you put all your efforts into being unique and being the only one to attain this privilege. Only an outstanding grade 12 student leader who demonstrates excellence, service and integrity has the grant to receive the Gerry Roxas Leadership Award.
The GRLA was bestowed in the office of CEFI’s President on July 11. Present in the awarding are the Acting President, Atty. Deanna Maria Rachel S. Calayan, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Karen J. Cusi, the Consultant and Officer-In-Charge of the Registrar’s Office, Dr. Maria Susan Teresita S. Calayan, the Officer-In-Charge of the Basic Education Department, Mr. Harold R. Pintano, and the SHS Coordinators.
Kathrine Jonell O. Azores, the honoree who received the award, was the SSG President for the school year 2022–2023. She is an exceptional HUMSS student who embodies the value of integrity, service and excellence May it be inside or outside the school. Ms. Azores participated in different activities, especially sports. She is a swimmer who brings the pride of CEFI to every tournament, volunteers and gives service to the community. As the academic year ended, she bagged the award as the most outstanding SHS student.
In her overwhelming feelings, Kathrine stated how huge the award was for her. “This honor is not just a recognition of my efforts alone yet a testament to all those who have supported and inspired me throughout my journey. [I am expressing my] gratitude to the Gerry Roxas Foundation for their support and for recognizing the importance of leadership in our community. It inspires me to create the lasting impact that this award represents.
Gratified by the achievement, Azores is thankful to CEFI, particularly to her mentors for guiding her during her two years in the Senior High School Program. It goes with the saying that effort always pays dividends. Even though the going may be difficult, everyone is bound to receive the reassuring and heartfelt affirmation they need.
