Welcome to Calayan Educational Foundation Inc.

The Technical Vocational Department of Calayan Educational Foundation Inc is offering training program which provides knowledge and skills for employment and function as an assessment center for selected qualifications accredited by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). 

The Tech-Voc training program aims to produce competent students that will be adaptive with the fast changing needs of the industry. In realizing this aim, the department design curricular programs congruent to the prescribed training regulations, supervised by knowledgeable and skilled trainers.

As an accredited assessment center, we seek to determine whether the applicant can perform to the standards expected in the workplace based on the defined competency standards thus ensuring her productivity, quality and global competitiveness.

The Technical – Vocational Department is committed to produce highly innovative, skilled, and competent graduates who are steeped in industrial and imbued with ethical work values while in service to various sectors of society.

The TECHNICAL-VOCATIONAL Department of CEFI envisions itself as a training center for the development of students’ talent. Skills and work values through a relevant educational program that excels in varied competencies in preparation for world-class training and job opportunities.

CAREGIVING NC II QUALIFICATION

The CAREGIVING NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to provide care and support to infants/toddlers, provide care and support to children, foster social, intellectual, creative and emotional development of children, foster the physical development of children, provide care and support to elderly, provide care and support to people with special needs, maintain healthy and safe environment, respond to emergency, clean living room, dining room, bedrooms, toilet and bathroom, wash and iron clothes, linen, fabric, prepare hot and cold meals.

The Units of Competency comprising this Qualification include the following:
Basic Competencies:
        1. Participate in workplace communication
        2. Work in a team environment
        3. Practice career professionalism
        4. Practice occupational health and safety procedures
Common Competencies
        1. Implement and monito infection control policies and procedures
        2. Respond effectively to difficult/challenging behavior
        3. Apply basic first aid
        4. Maintain high standard of patient services
        5.  Core Competencies
        6. Provide care and support to infants/toddlers

INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH CARE (HEALTH CARE SERVICES) NC II
QUALIFICATION

The INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH CARE (HEALTH CARE SERVICES) NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to prepare and maintain beds, collect and maintain linen stocks at end-user locations, assist with patient mobility, assist in transporting patients, assist with bio-psycho-social support care of patients and handle waste in a health care environment.

The Units of Competency comprising this Qualification include the following:
Basic Competencies:
      1. Participate in workplace communication
      2. Work in a team environment
      3. Practice career professionalism
      4. Practice occupational health and safety procedures
Common Competencies
      1. Implement and monitor infection control policies and procedures
      2. Respond effectively to difficult/challenging behavior
      3. Apply basic first aid
      4. Maintain high standard of patient services
      5. Core Competencies
      6. Prepare and maintain beds
      7. Collect and maintain linen stocks at end-users location
      8. Assist in patient mobility

MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION NC II QUALIFICATIONS
The MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to transcribe dictated recordings made by physician and other health care professionals and transcribe them into medical reports.
This Qualification is packaged from the competency map of the Information and Communication Technology Industry (Service sector). 
The units of competency comprising this qualification includes the following: 
Basic Competencies:
        1. Participate in workplace communication
        2. Work in a team environment
        3. Practice career professionalism
        4. Practice occupational health and safety procedures
Common Competencies
        1. Implement and monitor infection control policies and procedures
        2. Respond effectively to difficult/challenging behavior
        3. Apply basic first aid
        4. Maintain high standard of patient services
        5. Core Competencies
        6. Use business technology
        7. Use medical terminology to carry out task
        8. Produce text from  audio transcription
A person who has achieved this Qualification is competent to be:
    • Transcriptionist
FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES NC II QUALIFICATION
The FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to provide food and beverage service to guests in various food and beverage service facilities.  
This Qualification is packaged from the competency map of the Tourism Sector (Hotel and Restaurant) as shown in Annex A
The Units of Competency comprising this Qualification includes the following:
Basic Competencies:
        1. Participate in workplace communication
        2. Work in a team environment
        3. Practice career professionalism
        4. Practice occupational health and safety procedures
Common Competencies
        1. Implement and monito infection control policies and procedures
        2. Respond effectively to difficult/challenging behavior
        3. Apply basic first aid
        4. Maintain high standard of patient services
        5. Core Competencies
        6. Prepare the dining room/restaurant area for service
        7. Welcome guests and take food and beverage orders
        8. Promote food and beverage products
        9. Provide food and beverage services to guests
        10. Provide room service
        11. Receive and handle guest concerns
A person who has achieved this Qualification is competent to be a: 
    • Waiter 
    • Food and Beverage Service Attendant
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND CERTIFICATION ARRANGEMENTS
The Technical-Vocational Department of Calayan Educational Foundation Inc. (CEFI) conducts assessment on the following Qualifications:
    1. Book Keeping NC III
    2. Caregiving NC II
    3. Cookery NC II
    4. Massage Therapy NC II
    5. Medical Transcription NC II
4.1 To attain the National Qualification of Caregiving NC II, the candidate must demonstrate competence through project-type assessment covering all units listed in Section 1. Successful candidates shall be awarded a National Certificate signed by the TESDA Director General.
4.2 The qualification of Caregiving NC II may be attained through –
4.2.1 Accumulation of Certificates of Competency (COCs) in the following areas –
4.2.1.1 Providing care and support for infants, toddlers and children
• Provide care and support to infants/toddlers
• Provide care and support to children
• Foster, social, intellectual, creative and emotional development of children
• Foster the physical development of children
• Maintain healthy and safe environment
• Respond to emergency
• Clean living room, dining room, bedrooms, toilet and bathroom
• Wash and iron clothes, linen and fabric
• Prepare hot and cold meals
4.2.1.2 Providing care and support for the elderly and people with special needs
• Provide care and support to elderly
• Provide care and support to people with special needs
• Maintain healthy and safe environment
• Respond to emergency
• Clean living room, dining room, bedrooms, toilet and bathroom
• Wash and iron clothes, linen and fabric
• Prepare hot and cold meals
4.2.2 Demonstration of competence through project-type assessment covering all required units of qualification.
4.3 Assessment shall focus on the units of competency. The basic and common units shall be integrated or assessed concurrently with the core units.
4.4 The following are qualified to apply for assessment and certification:
4.4.1 Graduates of formal, non-formal and informal including enterprise-based training programs.         
4.4.2 Experienced workers (wage employed or self-employed).
4.5 Reassessment is allowed only after one month from the date of assessment. Reassessment for a National Certificate shall be done only on the task/s that the candidate did not successfully achieve.
4.6 A candidate who fails the assessment for two (2) consecutive times will be required to go through a refresher course before taking another assessment.
4.7 Only certified individuals in this Qualification may be nominated by the industry sector for accreditation as competency assessor.
4.8 Only accredited competency assessors are allowed to conduct competency assessment, however trainers who are accredited competency assessors are not allowed to assess their trainees.
4.9 Assessment of competence must be undertaken only in the TESDA accredited assessment center. The performance assessment (demonstration of competence), however, may be done in any venue or workplace duly designated by an accredited assessment center.
4.10 The guidelines on assessment and certification are discussed in detail in the Procedures Manual on Assessment and Certification.

 

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Technical Vocational Department formerly known as Caregiving Department of Calayan Educational Foundation was established in 2002 offering training in Caregiving under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca SA. Sergio. In pursuant to Republic Act No. 7796 creating the Technical Education  and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and in accordance with TESDA Board Resolution 98-03 dated January 23, 1996, the school apply for registration of Caregiving program and was granted authority to offer the  course ( 6 Months Caregiver Course) in June 2, 2004.  In 2007, new policies and standard in the implementation of Caregiving program changed,  which prompted Mr. Marlon Macaraig, OIC, Technical Vocational  Department to migrate the program and was granted in July 2, 2007.  In 2013, TESDA accredited CEFI as Assessment Center in Caregiving NC II. In 2014, Dr. Mina E. Magat, the new TechVoc Program Director submitted a letter of intent for accreditation  as assessment center in  Health Care Services NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II and Book Keeping NCIII and was granted in same year. The training program offered in the institution increases since Medical Transcription, Food and Beverage Services and Health Care Services was approved by TESDA in 2016. Meanwhile, in 2017, Massage Therapy NC II and Medical Transcription NCII as Assessment Center were also approved.
