OVERVIEW
Extension is an essential function of higher education institution that derives its plans and programs for the delivery of community services from instruction and research. Conducting community extension service is about relationship in building communities through teaching.
Community Extension Services’ (CES) programs and activities are geared toward helping people by empowering themselves through sustainable programs.
Extension enables the educational programs to reach and “touch the lives “of communities and environment through services which transfer knowledge and technologies to create impact on holistic and sustainable development programs and people empowerment.
The CES most valued project is coined “HELPS” which symbolizes human needs; These are physiological needs which can be sustained through maintenance of Health; Safety and Security needs, sustained through a good Environmental program, and Literacy which will boost self-esteem and confidence thus becoming a Productive individual. These holistic aspects of man, if provided with good beneficial long and short term programs and services, will ultimately contribute to a sustainable family, then to a community. This project is designed to address the needs of the adopted community by providing services that are congruent to the organizational plan and activities formulated by each department aligned to the vision and mission of the institution. It is specifics to the expertise of each department personnel and students.
GOAL
Sustainable community extension services via its responsive and relevant programs that are supportive of the needs of the community.
OBJECTIVE
Towards the end of a five-year plan, CEFI has successfully fostered a sustainable community, as evidenced by the following achievements:
1. Attainable and Sustainable Community Programs: Implemented PROJECT H.E.L.P.S. using departmental expertise in phased stages to ensure affordability and sustainability.
2. Objectivity and Continuity of Programs: Maintained objectivity by regularly monitoring and evaluating progress and adapting plans as necessary to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
3. Strengthened Spirit of Volunteerism, Linkages, and Partnerships: Effectively organized volunteers and CES project coordinators, establishing robust partnerships and linkages with external stakeholders to enhance community engagement and support.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The ultimate measure of the effectiveness of CEFI Community Extension Services is its impact on the lives of people and the community it serves.
CEFI views that the attainment of the vision of sustainable Community Extension Services is by building people who are responsive and supportive to the needs of the community.
- Extension Services that is anchored on the core values of CEFI – Honor, Scholarship and Services that responds to the actual needs of the community it serves utilizing the expertise of various disciplines through the spirit of volunteerism and partnership.

- Extension Research focused on the health of individual, the family and the community it serves with the utilization of various discipline and field of expertise of every CEFIzen through linkages and partnership.
ACTIVITIES
The Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc. was recognized as one of the major stakeholders of Lucena City National High School-Mayao Crossing Extension (LCNHS-MCE) in their Brigada Eskwela Champion of the Year, with a theme “Celebrating Collaboration and Shared Governance to Promote Quality Education”, held this 18th day of July 2023 at Antigua Restaurant Eastern Precious Cuisine, Lucena City.

On August 12, 2023, the Community Extension Services collaborated with Muha-Muha Farm for an event at Karunungan Hall. They introduced Hydroponics, a modern way of growing plants without soil. People from the adopted community, GSO, CES Coordinators, and Nursing students took part and learned about this innovative farming technique through talks and demos. The event emphasized sharing knowledge and promoting sustainability for a greener future.

CEFI CES and Brgy Mayao Crossing, in collaboration with the Barangay Council, join forces for a greener community! Members of the CES Alliance Volunteers and Supreme College Student Council (SCSC) Officers united in a Tree Planting Activity on August 26, 2023. Together, we’re sowing the seeds of environmental change for a healthier planet.
