The Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science   is both challenging and rewarding. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to provide you with a high caliber program. The quality of our program is reflected in our success assisting you in reaching your educational and professional goals.

Information regarding the College, advising, and the curriculum is included for your reference in devising your personal plan of action for your time with us. The College of Medical Technology is part of the CEFI. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science has been offered at CEFI since 1996 and is administered by the CMT Dean.

The Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science Program are designed to prepare students to enter the field of Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science. The design of the curriculum assures instruction in the theory and techniques of diagnostic laboratory procedures. The faculty in the College of Medical Technology is dedicated to providing you with the newest innovations and technology.

The program requires three years of academic courses at the CEFI campus, followed by a clinical practicum in a hospital-based clinical laboratory. The CEFI has affiliations with hospitals in Manila.

A profession in the Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science offers a challenging and rewarding career. Job opportunities are numerous and diverse. Placement of graduates in positions of employment approaches one hundred percent. Graduates are employed in clinical, industrial, research, environmental, crime, and public health laboratories. Professionals hold a wide variety of positions as staff technologists, managers, supervisors, infection control officers, researchers, educators, consultants, analysts, industrial specialists, and quality assurance specialists.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and by the Philippine Association of School of Medical Technology and Public Health (PASMETH). Upon successful completion of the program students are eligible to take the Licensure Board Examination for Medical Technologists

The College of Medical Technology envisions being nationally and globally acknowledged as among the finest and most distinguished school for its excellence in the field of Medical Technology /Medical Laboratory Science Education, through honor, scholarship and service.

MISSION OF THE COLLEGE OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY

To provide students with a highly professional, undergraduate educational experience, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Medical technology/ Medical Laboratory Science.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

The program’s expectation is to graduate individuals who:

    1. demonstrate technical competence in the performance of clinical laboratory tests in aid of diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases vis-à-vis biosafety and waste management
    2. demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills in the workplace
    3. engage in the collection, analysis, and projection of health information for improving the health care management system
    4. demonstrate interpersonal skills, leadership qualities and ethical practice of the profession
    5. apply research skills in the relevant areas of medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science practice
    6. participate in community-oriented activities
    7. engage in lifelong learning activities
    8. demonstrate effective teaching and communication skills

THE COLLEGE OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY SEAL:


The seal of the College of Medical Technology signifies the following:

RED- The color relates to the stability of the college. WHITE- is purity, cleanliness, Completion, Ultimate Wisdom and Assimilation of all Life Lessons. CIRCLE- (sacred hoop, ring): An ancient and universal symbol of unity and wholeness, MICROSCOPE- This symbolizes the uniqueness of the Medical Technology profession, wherein we can see what others can’t see. CYCLOOCTANE- This indicates the continuous energy flowing out to pursue the objectives and ideals of the college. Atoms represent the basic unit of the college; the students and the teachers. These resemble the relationship and adherence between the stake holders; the administrators, the teachers, the students and the community. They also resemble the unselfish sharing and dedication to impart knowledge.  ERLENMEYER FLASK- This represents the college’s flexibility and toughness, amidst the trials and burdens the college faces. TEST TUBE- This represents the humility of the college and the commitment to serve the community.

Congratulations to our new Cefizen physicians!
On Thursday, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that only 3,826 out of 5,958 examinees passed the PLE taken last October 2022. Among the passers are our very own alumni Augdrey Dueñas, Jana Marie Oriola-Uy, and Hazel Jane Pascual.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

  1. June 1973- Dr. Emeterio Calayan and Dra. Josefina Del Villar Calayan founded the Medical Center Lucena Educational Institution
  2. September 19, 1997- First endorsement of the Department of Medical Technology to CHED
  3. December 4, 1998- Government Recognition awarded to the Department of Medical Technology with GO # 300 series of 1998.
  4. 1992-1993- Nidia Banaua- spearheaded the Bachelor of Science of Medical Technology
  5. 1993-1996- Dr. Ajerico Razo- First Dean of the Department of Medical Technology
  6. 1996-1997- Dr. Rodolfo Aguilar- the Dean of the Department of Medical Technology
  7. 1998-2001- Mr. Joel Aguilan- Chairman of the Department of Medical Technology during the supervision of  Della Salle supervised School
    • Merged with other paramedical courses called the College of Health and Sciences
  8. 2001-2007- Prof. Judy S. Decal –Officer In charge Department of Medical Technology.
