Throughout its history, Calayan Educational Foundation Incorporated has been an aphorism for quality education in the city of Lucena Quezon, a springboard of hope for students young and old who wish to lead better and fulfilling lives after earning a degree.
In many ways, the institution has shaped the landscape of the city through the well-defined programs it rolls out, and the mission it set out to do from the very start, “to develop holistic, self-fulfilling and productive citizens, actively engaged in national and international development, imbued with the core values of HONOR, SCHOLARSHIP and SERVICE, deeply committed to raising the quality of man’s life”.
This mission began as an idea shared by 2 people who looked beyond the horizon and dreamed of a school that would serve the needs of and shape the future of the community they belonged.
This mission has been the shining beacon that guided CEFI over the years, and the vision that the founders had of an institution that would feed minds and nurture bodies and souls has become a reality.
More than becoming a byword, CEFI is a familiar landmark in Lucena City where its modern façade is used as a point of orientation when locating addresses. It does not boast of a grand architecture in the 5 halls that have been mute witnesses to intellectual exchanges. Simple to the point of being stark and plain, the halls are testament to the enduring spirit of the students who are there, and those who came before them.
The campus has had its share of beatings from the elements, from the scorching heat in summer, violent storms in the wet season, even force majeures like the two fires that reduced the campus to embers. Through all the scarring, CEFI rose to claim the foothold it now enjoys, and continues to grow larger in its aspirations for its beloved Cefizens.
Today, CEFI shines brightly and beautifully like precious gold, and stands tall and confident and unbowed as it carries on its mission of making a difference to the world.
We celebrate CEFI’s storied past with deep gratitude and we look to the years ahead with hope and optimism that the generations of learners will bring to victory the purpose that each CEFIzen who walked through the hallowed halls carried, with dignity and pride.
